Finding Adventure in Bocas Panama
Although Bocas del Toro is known as a relaxing getaway destination, there is much more to do here than you may think. One of the favorite tourist destinations in Panama, Bocas sits along the Caribbean Sea close to Panama’s border with Costa Rica.
This location makes it a perfect destination for a fun-filled tropical vacation. As you might imagine, most of the things to do in Bocas del Toro are outside.
These activities include: watching sea turtles, snorkeling, sightseeing, scuba diving, bird watching, hiking, surfing, and visiting Indian villages. There is plenty to do in Bocas and it seems there is never enough time to get in all of the fun.
While in Bocas, many tourists visit Bluff Beach. This beautiful island beach has amazing, bright orange sand. It is a terrific place to spend your day, watching white-faced capuchin monkeys, swimming, or surfing the waves; this is also a beach where sea turtles nest. When nesting season arrives, you can help conservation groups who stay on the island to protect the turtles and their nests from predators.
Anyone who enjoys scuba diving and snorkeling will be drawn to the old settlement of Bocas del Drago. Just off the shore of this enchanting beach there are beautiful coral reefs, which are interesting and filled with wildlife.
Five minutes from this beach is the bird sanctuary of Swan Cay, a perfect place to view some of the spectacular birds in the area. Bocas del Toro has fun for everyone in a variety of locations. A trip to this area will undoubtedly create memories to last a lifetime.
